Description :
Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Certified Lactation Counselor to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. This person is responsible for assisting physicians while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
Work Hours / Shift :
Part-time, 24 hours per week, Rotating shift. Weekend and holiday rotation.
You Will Be Responsible For :
Performs lactation consultations on inpatient FCMC units as requested by staff or patients. Consultations include, but are not limited to : assessment of the maternal and neonate anatomy as related to breastfeeding, assessment and assistance with positioning, latch and feeding of the neonate, education related to the use of specialized equipment (e.g. breast pumps, both manual & electric, alternative feeding devices, etc.) as appropriate, and together with the patient, development of a plan of care for the maternal / child breastfeeding dyad.
Performs consultations on inpatients throughout the hospital as requested by staff or patients. Assists with pumping, review of medications and / or procedures as to compatibility with breastfeeding.
Documents and communicates with appropriate medical and nursing staff as to the above assessments and plan of care as it relates to breastfeeding.
Requirements :
Education : High School Degree or GED required. Baccalaureate degree (preferred).
Certification : BLS certification required. CLC certification is required upon hire.
Effective communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Skills :
Acute care, Labor and Delivery, and Maternity experience preferred. Bilingual (preferred).
