Position: Recovery Support Specialist (RSS)- Family Counseling Center (FCC)
Location: Grundy County
Shift: Weekday, 2 evening nights per week
Salary: $36,000-$47,000
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction and immediate supervision of the Living Room Program Coordinator, the Recovery Support Specialist delivers supportive services to guests of the Living Room. The Recovery Support Specialist creates a positive, non-clinical environment that supports guests in managing crises in a comfortable, welcoming environment.

NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT:
Network 9
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supports guests who are experiencing mental health crises
- Connects guests with community resources to help prevent future crises
- Reviews with guests triggers to the current crisis, to help problem solve how to manage similar triggers in the future
- Collaborates with clinicians to ensure guests complete necessary assessments
- Completes all trainings necessary to become a Certified Recovery Support Specialist within a year of employment.
- Works evenings and some weekends to ensure Living Room is accessible seven days a week
- Participates in staff meetings
- Communicates with staff, guests, community agencies, and other internal or external entities in a professional and timely manner
- Works with other Trinity staff members in developing and suggesting events and system improvements, anticipates potential problem areas, and communicates any identified problem areas or concerns to the Living Room Director
- Reports any injuries or specific needs of guests to Living Room Director
- Advises the Living Room Director of any immediate or non-immediate medical problems regarding any guests.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the Living Room model
- Able to make independent decisions and problem solve
- Able to deal tactfully with guests, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Able to work harmoniously with Trinity employees
- Must have the willingness to work with guests, staff, and visitors at various maturity levels
- Able to contribute to positive morale
- Able to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
- Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
- Be able to complete deep knee squats
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate motor vehicles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
- Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED is required; Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, or related field is preferred
- Lived experience with mental health concerns
- Must complete requirements to become a Certified Recovery Support Specialist within one year of hire
