The import coordinator oversees the logistical aspect of the import process, ensuring seamless transportation and on-time delivery of goods. Key responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers, arranging customs documentation, tracking shipments, and addressing any issues to ensure efficient import operations. Tasks involve effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders, efficient management of import documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the import process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and company policies
- Track and trace on SSL websites.
- Experience with communicating with drivers. ports and SSL.
- Ensure clients are updated on shipment information in real-time
- Communicate with international suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including purchase orders, invoices, and customs declarations
- Provide support to other departments, such as sales and logistics, to ensure smooth import operations
- Monitor and report on import trends, costs, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to import shipments, such as damaged goods or customs delays
- Stay up-to-date with changes in import regulations and procedures, and advise management on potential impacts to the business
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and implement strategies for optimizing the import process and reducing costs.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience working in import coordination in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and international trade laws
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with logistics software
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred
