SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant, Manufacturing will be the expert Production Operations Management Accountant (POM), and as instructed by the Director of Finance, assist in accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and other similar duties as assigned. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The POM will have contact with senior-level executives, attorneys and the CEO which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Assist in the daily banking requirements.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Work with the tax accountant to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
- In the absence of other accounting staff resources, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for all aspects of AP, AR, Cash forecasting, Reconciliations, and month end procedures.
- Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Support CEO and other department members with special projects and workflow process improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA preferred; 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 years as a Senior Accountant preferred.
Computer Skills
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting. Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel experience required.
Language
Demonstrate ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math
Demonstrate ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning
Demonstrate ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
