Overview :

Collective Power for Reproductive Justice ( collectivepowerrj.org ) is a national reproductive rights and justice organization dedicated to educating, mentoring, and inspiring new generations of advocates, leaders, and supporters. Combining activism, organizing, leadership training, and reproductive rights movement building, Collective Power promotes an inclusive agenda that advances reproductive rights and health, and social and economic justice. Collective Power is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE ( tsne.org ).

Responsibilities : Essential Functions

Collective Power for Reproductive Justice (CPRJ), is currently hiring two students from the Five Colleges to be Conference Committee Coordinators (CCC). Collective Power is a national Reproductive Justice organization who hosts an annual reproductive justice conference in Amherst MA : Collective Power , facilitates an national internship program which offers up to 40 undergraduates social and reproductive justice internships, and produces research on challenging population control and eugenics.

The CCCs will work under the supervision of the Campus and Conference Program Manager at Collective Power, from September 2024 to June 2025. Their key responsibilities include networking and building relationships with Five College students by hosting at least five on-campus info sessions throughout the year. These sessions will focus on getting involved with Collective Power and advancing reproductive justice.

In addition, CCCs will promote the Collective Power 2025 conference, recruit Five College students to join the 2025 Student Organizing Group, and assist with coordinating event logistics during the conference, which will take place from April 4th-6th, 2025.

Five College Outreach :

  • Represent Collective Power at Five College events
  • Foster relationships with appropriate contacts at all colleges (activist student groups, feminist studies, identity-based centers, etc.)
  • Promote Collective Power events and Student Organizing Group through newsletters, flyers, and social media post

Conference Outreach :

  • Work with Collective Powers Communications Manager to implement CPRJ branding and language for the upcoming 2025 conference
  • Promote the conference to college and highschool students in our programmatic areas
  • Distribute outreach materials for the future student organizing group, Collective power 2025 in the Pioneer Valley
  • Post-Pandemic Infrastructure Preparation & Planning

  • Vision and plan for the next phase of the Student Organizing Group : Research RJ workshops, speakers, and activists to engage with and bring on to campus for students
  • Vision for the social justice topics of interest you would like to bring to students and plan events around those topics
  • Plan, host, and promote at least three Info-sessions about the Student Organizing group, and upcoming 2025 conference to local students in the Pioneer Valley from October-November and two more in the early Spring
  • 2025 Conference Weekend Coordination April 4th, 5th, and 6th (Required Attendance) :

  • Coordinate volunteers for conference set-up, maintenance, and clean-up
  • Assist with registration
  • Emcee / moderate and / or monitor plenaries
  • Represent Collective Power to conference attendees, speakers, and the press
  • Preliminary Recruitment for the 2025-2026 Student Group

  • Before and after Collective Power 2025 work to recruit Five College students for the 2025-2026 volunteer Student Organizing Group

  • Qualifications :

  • A strong RJ analysis
  • Committed to dismantling racism and queer / transphobic rhetoric
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor and eventually other prospective Student Group members
  • Ability to work in teams and empower leadership of peers
  • Ability to incorporate direction and feedback into creative work plans; design, implement, facilitate, or provide logistic support for events
  • Have existing (and ability to build) networks in Five Colleges and beyond
  • Comfort with public speaking; working-knowledge or interest in facilitation
  • Ability to be flexible and to fit into existing systems of organization
  • Ability to work across differences
  • Comfort with word processing, email communication, speaking on the phone, maintaining excel spreadsheets
  • Detail-oriented
  • Interest and knowledge in reproductive justice and social justice issues
  • Growing understanding of systems of oppression and intersections of social justice issues

  • Compensation and Benefits

    Location : Work will be primarily performed Amherst, MA.

    Compensation : The starting salary for this position is $15.00 / hr and is commensurate with experience.

    Benefits : This position is is not eligible for benefits.
