For this position, we need someone with controller/director/senior-level accounting experience to oversee the daily administrative operations and manage financial tasks crucial to the success of our company. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who has strong financial expertise and experience in the HVAC, plumbing, or construction industries.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000 a year, depending on experience plus an annual bonus

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day office operations to ensure smooth workflow.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, job costing, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and deliver timely monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Develop and Monitor cash flow and job profitability, ensuring accurate cost tracking on projects and service jobs.
- Develop budgets and forecasts, and provide financial guidance to leadership for operational and strategic decisions.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with tax and industry regulations.
- Manage job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, ensuring accurate revenue recognition on ongoing projects.
- Analyze gross margins, labor costs, and overhead expenses, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Support project managers and department leads with financial analysis, job cost reviews, and margin analysis.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, including sales tax and payroll tax filings.
- Coordinate external audits and tax preparation with CPA firms.
- Evaluate and optimize accounting systems and software, ensuring proper integration with field service and job management platforms (e.g., ServiceTitan, QuickBooks, Sage, or other industry-specific software).
- Coordinate with service teams to ensure efficient job scheduling and dispatching.
- Manage office staff and support HR functions, including hiring, onboarding, and employee relations.
- Foster a positive office environment that aligns with our company's values and commitment to customer service.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.
- 5 years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or Controller role.
- Experience in the HVAC, Plumbing, Construction, or Service Industry is REQUIRED.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition in project-based environments.
- Proficiency in accounting and job management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ServiceTitan, or other construction/service platforms).
- Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capability.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with field operations teams and translate financial data into actionable insights.
Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
