What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Tucson Wildlife Center?
The Bookkeeper will perform various accounting and financial management tasks, including but not limited to:
- Payroll Processing: Process bi-weekly payroll.
- Tax Preparation: Pay bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual payroll taxes and prepare associated state and federal forms including W2s and 1099s .
- Banking & Reconciliation: Oversee bank deposits and transfers. Review and reconcile and record cash, check, credit card, and online donations.
- Petty Cash Management: Maintain accurate records of petty cash transactions.
- Accounts Payable: Process and pay bills promptly. Record and reconcile payments made by credit card.
- Journal Entries: Make necessary journal entries to maintain accurate financial records including end of year adjusting entries.
- Insurance & Prepaids: Oversee insurance coverage and payments and manage prepaid accounts.
- Depreciation & Capital Assets: Track and record depreciation, manage capital assets.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports for the Director and Board, including creating annual budget and regular actual to budget comparisons.
- Audit Preparation: Assist with the annual nonprofit audit and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Internal Controls: Ensure effective internal controls are in place to protect assets and financial integrity.
- Annual Gala: Reconcile and record all gala related income including ticket sales, sponsorships, and sales of auction items. Track attendees and sponsorships for seat assignments. Track benefit costs and income and report to committee. Attend benefit committee meetings and assist as needed including night of gala.

Qualifications
- Proficient in accounting principles and GAAP compliance
- Strong skills in double entry bookkeeping and general ledger accounting
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
- Ability to perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes
- Familiarity with financial report writing and journal entries

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
