The Talent Development Specialist is critical in contributing to and supporting the development, implementation, promotion, and ongoing monitoring of talent development programs and initiatives to drive an engaged and enabled workforce to deliver against the University's strategic plan and align people practices with institutional values. This position requires a creative and analytical thinker with strong technical expertise, instructional design capabilities, and a commitment to supporting a diverse university community. The specialist will also assist in administering mandatory training and addressing community needs related to the Oracle Learning Management System (LMS) and provide backup support for orientation programs.

  • Ability to collaborate with others, serving as a positive, contributing member of the Office of Human Resources and Institutional Equity (OHRIE) team; and subscribing and adhering to the vision, mission, and values of the OHRIE and of Tulane University.
  • Demonstrates excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of skills development and capacity building strategies.
  • Ability to think strategically as well as manage the hands-on execution of projects and programs
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills; ability to effectively manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with individuals and groups at all levels internal and external to the organization, as well as the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve problems, demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making, and follow through on commitments to achieve or exceed promised deliverables.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be objective in all situations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in, Human Resources, Education, Communications and Marketing, Business, Psychology or a related field
  • Experience in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles, knowledge of performance improvement methods and techniques, and familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Oracle LMS).
  • Familiarity with Project Management methodologies, best practices, and toolsets.
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Education, Communications, Marketing, Business, Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in talent development, instructional design, or a related area.
  • Experience teaching, facilitation, consulting, coaching, program development, and supervisor skills.
  • Professional Human Resources, Talent Development, and / or Training certification.
