Assistant Farm Manager – Tumalo Lavender
Position: Full-Time, Seasonal (March – November 2025)
Start Date: Spring 2025
Starting Wage: $18.00-$20.00/hour (Depending on experience)
Tumalo Lavender is seeking an energetic and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to support our current Farm Manager in daily operations. This role requires someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, takes initiative, and is eager to assist with all aspects of farm management. Strong mechanical skills are highly preferred to help maintain tractors and equipment. Additionally, this position will oversee the distillation process for our lavender essential oil.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing day-to-day farm operations
- Planting, transplanting, harvesting, pruning, and weeding
- Irrigation setup, maintenance, and routine plant care
- Drying and cleaning harvested lavender
- Managing the lavender essential oil distillation process
- Routine maintenance and minor repairs for farm equipment, tractors, and tools
- Assist with shipments and overall farm organization
- Optional: If desired, the employee can rotate with others to work at the Downtown Farmers Market on Wednesdays or take the Saturday shift at the farm store (store training required).
- Other tasks as needed, big or small
Qualifications:
Farming experience is preferred but not required. However, farming is physically demanding, requiring repeated bending, lifting, and standing. We expect all employees to take responsibility for their physical, emotional, and mental well-being by:
- Dressing properly for the conditions
- Staying hydrated and maintaining adequate caloric intake
- Practicing good ergonomics and taking breaks as needed
- Communicating openly with the team about goals, challenges, and limitations

Other Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of full-time work experience (Preference given to those with experience in agriculture, the service industry, or manual labor fields)
- Ability to commit to the entire growing season
- Strong attention to detail – We take pride in the quality and cleanliness of our products
- Reliable transportation to and from the farm
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs repeatedly
- Ability to be flexible – Farming requires adaptability due to weather, heat, and other external factors
