Maintenance Field Worker II $21 to $25 Hourly

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Field Supervisor will perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC maintenance, repair and interior remodeling; repair and maintain equipment; perform a variety of other work in the maintenance, repair and modernization of Tribal homes; and perform related duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Performs framing, rough and finish carpentry, frame and trim doors and windows and small interior remodeling projects.
2. Install, repair and maintain domestic water supply, drainage plumbing and related fixtures using copper, galvanized, iron and PVC pipe techniques.
3. Performs a variety of electrical repairs and installations, such as electric panels, wiring, cabling, switches, light fixtures and related equipment.
4. Hangs, tapes & textures wallboard; patches plaster; applies interior finishes such as paint, paneling, varnishes, etc.
5. Installs flooring tile, ceramic tile, molding and baseboards.
6. Prepares forms; sets rebar; pours and finishes concrete to repair or replace slabs, retaining walls, driveways, walkways, steps, etc., repairs brick and other masonry structures.
7. Installs locks and deadbolts; changes tumblers and makes keys.
8. Removes and replaces window glass.
9. Prepares complete and accurate records of maintenance work completed.
10. Attends training, meetings, workshop, etc. as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.
11. Perform job clean-up activities on completion of each workday or project.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

     

Qualifications

1. Knowledge of use and care of hand and power tools, common building materials; basic mathematics; principles, methods, materials tools and equipment used in rough and finish carpentry, cabinetry and wood finishing; methods and materials used in concrete work, surface patching and brick/masonry repair; safe work practices; principles and techniques of domestic water supply and drainage plumbing using galvanized, copper and PVC pipe.
2. Ability to perform skilled and unskilled work in the maintenance, repair and modernizations of Tribal homes.
3. Use of basic hand and power tools.
4. Ability to make basic mathematical calculations.
5. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
6. Communicate and work cooperatively with others.
7. Perform work safely following all rules and regulations.
8. Operate and maintain specialized tools used in electrical, carpentry, plumbing and concrete work.
9. Mandatory three years experience in a construction or maintenance position
10. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
11. Able to interact professionally with people with a wide variety of backgrounds.
12. Ability to follow detailed instructions.
13. Possess a valid California Driver License and maintain current vehicle insurance, as this position requires driving.
14. Possess High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:

This position is deemed a level 3 and requires walking. standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, etc; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing and reaching; pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds; raising objects overhead; manual dexterity for operation of computer and phones; hearing, talking and good verbal and written communication skills; repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers; subject to outside environmental conditions of heat and cold; walking on uneven ground; operation of medium-weight equipment.
