What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at TURN Community Services?
TURN Community Services in Midvale is looking to hire a full-time Summer Camp Counselor to join our seasonal team. Do you love working with children? This seasonal position earns a competitive wage of $16.50/hour. We provide an employee assistance program (EAP). A $100 sign-on bonus is available, subject to working the entire summer camp season, including through the last scheduled shift.

We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you play an essential role in ensuring our school-aged campers with disabilities get the most out of their summer experience. This job is a great introduction to the work that we do with many other folks throughout the year. Your job is to help our campers learn, have fun, and explore new places during the warm months. As a role model and leader, you get to know the children on a personal level and ensure all their needs are being met so they can focus on having fun. You love the fast-paced environment that keeps you on your toes. Because of your dedication, these children are able to attend camp ready for fun, excitement, and new adventures!
Camp staff ensure the happiness and well-being of every camper in our program. This may include feeding, personal hygiene care, frequent assistance with moving or transfers, which includes lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting with mediation if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to drive large program buses for community engagement and transportation to/from campers' homes.
- A heart for serving individuals with intellectual disabilities

WORK SCHEDULE
This temporary position works during the summer months. Camp dates are June 5th - August 7th.
