TITLE : Volunteer & Intern Coordinator
REPORTS TO : Director of Community Engagement & Education
CLASSIFICATION : Full Time Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer & Intern Coordinator recruits, onboards, and manages volunteers and interns for Turning Point programs and Second Hand Rose. Additionally, the Volunteer & Intern Coordinator develops and implements appreciation events and program evaluations to ensure that all volunteers and interns feel appreciated and valued for their contributions to Turning Point.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
The Volunteer & Intern Coordinator must have knowledge in coordinating intern and volunteer activities in a non-profit organization and understand the requirements to recruit, train and engage volunteers in the community.
EDUCATION
LMSW or LLMSW preferred
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinate volunteers for agency events, community tabling engagements, Second Hand Rose, and Turning Point programs.
- Interview volunteers and interns to assess their fit, alignment with agency mission, skills and qualifications.
- Match volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensure they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
- Collaborate with colleges and universities for intern placement, supervision, and evaluation.
- Facilitate onboarding training, including Core and indirect volunteer training, and ongoing learning opportunities to volunteers and interns.
- Represent Turning Point at community events and presentations as a way to raise awareness of the organization, services, and volunteer and internship opportunities.
- Conduct outreach through various techniques to recruit volunteers and interns that reflect Turning Point's diverse clients and community.
- Develop and implement volunteer appreciation and recognition events.
- Develop and implement evaluation practices with volunteer, interns, and Turning Point program staff to ensure that volunteer and interns feel valued, program needs are met, and identify ways to improve volunteer and intern services.
- Communicate frequently with volunteers and Turning Point supervisors to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed.
- Create and send monthly e-newsletter to volunteers and interns.
- Collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database.
- Maintain accurate timesheets and reports for the agency and funders.
