System Tech 4-5Location : Lewisville, TX, United StatesJob ID : 6088684Date Posted : Dec 9, 2024POSTING DEADLINEThis position is posted until filled.PREFERENCESCDL Class A or obtain within 6 months of hireExperience with Wiring and DrawingsTesting Substation EquipmentJOB DESCRIPTIONSystem Tech 4Union 42.07 Per HourSUMMARY : Under general supervision, inspects, tests, and maintains substation electrical equipment and performs other substation maintenance duties related to keeping buildings and grounds in good condition.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operation, utilizing such equipment as voltmeters, ammeters, and related electrical testing equipmentInstalls and maintains substation, transmission, distribution, and metering equipmentPerforms routine maintenance on substation equipment such as oil testing and replacementTrains and instructs less experienced personnel in techniques of substation maintenance and other engineering duties by applying a full working knowledge of safe work procedures as outlined in the Safety ManualPerforms surveying and staking for new constructionAvailable to perform on call work as necessaryMay serve as either dispatcher or switchmanProperly reports and maps substation related changes to equipment and linesPaints, repairs, and maintains substation facilitiesPerforms other duties as assignedCOMPETENCIES : In-depth knowledge and understanding of electrical theory, transformer theory, math and draftingIn-depth knowledge and understanding of safe and proper testing techniquesIn-depth knowledge and understanding of substation and line construction and maintenanceAbility to operate power tools and electrical testing equipmentAbility to recognize and communicate hazardous conditionsQUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or GED with six to seven years of related experience and completion of competency levels for System Technician 3, or equivalent combination of education and / or experience related to the discipline.College level course work in an engineering discipline or related vocational training preferred.Where incumbent is required to operate machinery and / or equipment covered under the State Motor Carrier Act, the incumbent must meet requirements of Part 391 of the Act (Driver Qualification) before operating such equipment.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Job requirements include meeting and maintaining regulatory standards required for the position including passing any physiological qualifications required by the Department of Transportation or other agencies, and possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License. Must also have and maintain a driving record that meets the Company's standards.COMMUNICATION SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizationMATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volumeAbility to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
