What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Services Manager position at Tyme Maidu Tribe?

SUMMARY: Responsible for the successful overall planning, direction, and management of all operations and personnel of the Building Services/Landscaping Department, in alignment with the goals and objectives of the Casino, and in full accordance with all operational policies and procedures, as well as regulatory policies and procedures. The Building Services/Landscaping Manager is empowered to make discretionary decisions regarding the activities concerning the Building Services/Landscaping Department. Under the direction of the General Manager, performs work of considerable difficulty in the management of facilities, (e.g. buildings, grounds, plants, etc.) and equipment.  


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES ASSIGNED: 

    Plans, organizes, and gives directions to department staff in the execution of maintenance and repair work.  Performs daily site visits to check on staff and conditions.   

    Evaluates department personnel workload and makes recommendations regarding the department workforce.

    Develops long-term facilities maintenance, restoration and budgeting project planning.

    Purchases inventory material for maintenance crew.  Maintain an inventory record, provides controls over materials and equipment.  

    Evaluates projects and recommends performing the work with department personnel or outside contractors.  Provides oversight of projects.

    Ensure department personnel meet standards and performance objectives; ensure staff receives any training and coaching needed related to specific job tasks, responsibilities, and compliance / regulatory standards.

    Investigates and provides pricing information for requirement replacement/repair costs.

    Schedules and oversees the various maintenance programs which are performed by the in-house staff.

    Performs annual department personnel performance evaluations.

    Performs daily inspections of the department personnel work, both completed and in progress.

    Oversee the training of the staff for the quality of work and compliance with industry standards.

    Conducts monthly safety meetings, actively participate in quarterly Safety Committee Meetings, and promote safety and compliance culture among all building services/landscape team members.

    Prepare reports on activities as requested.

    Responds to emergency situations, evaluates damage, directs repair, and reports findings to the General Manager. 

    Responsible for maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality, professionalism and ethical business conduct.

    Ensures management of department fosters and encourages positive interaction between employees, management and customers.

    Be accountable for and fully utilize our guest experience Mystery Shopper program, with each guest interaction.  

    Keep pace with completing Mystery Shopper coaching with Team Members and ensures they understand and perform to the standards of the Gold Service Program.

    Completes other duties and projects as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, and/or ability required. Must pass initial drug screening, background investigation, random drug tests and credit check.

    Two to four years’ experience as Maintenance personnel required as well as training and experience in a mechanical field.

    Familiar with Federal OSHA guidelines and standards.

    A minimum of 2 years prior supervisory experience in related fields.

    

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of Casino.  Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.


MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School diploma or GED required.  


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.


The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risks of electrical shock and radiation.  The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud.
