What are the responsibilities and job description for the Basketball coach position at U.S. Coast Guard Academy?
The purpose of this position is to be an Assistant coach for men’s basketball in the Department of Athletics and provide physical fitness and wellness and / or aquatics instruction for trainees in the Leadership Development Center (LDC) and cadets in the Health and Physical Education (HPE) program.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include :
Performing basketball instruction and recruiting support for the men’s basketball program. Instructing students in fitness and wellness including strength / circuit training, health, physical readiness and / or aquatics classes.
Providing support with contest management duties as assigned by the Department of Athletics.
Qualifications for GS-9 :
At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples include :
- Instructing students in fitness and wellness including strength / circuit training, health, physical readiness and / or aquatics classes.
- Lecturing, leading discussions and demonstrating competence in the field of health / fitness or aquatics / physical education.
- Providing wellness instruction and counseling.
- Instructing courses that are well structured and have plenty of training materials.
Master's or equivalent graduate degree.
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
or if related.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for the GS-9 grade level.
National Service Experience volunteer experience) : Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations professional;
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
