Manages maintenance and repair services for complex electrical and mechanical production equipment and systems. Develops and implements standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness. Coordinates troubleshooting and solutions for equipment repairs. Makes recommendations for equipment enhancements or improvements. Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Plans and schedules maintenance workers, materials, and activities to complete work orders with minimal downtime, adhering to safety requirements and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities / Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service and communications:
o Implement actions as needed to prevent food safety and food quality issues
o Coordinate with QA to ensure excellent quality is being produced
o Ensure customer specifications are being met through evaluation and immediate reaction
o Monitor and ensure that all GMP’s, SOP’s, and HACCP are met at all times
o Ensure Production Floor is SQF ready EVERYDAY
o Follow all safety and OSHA polices and report any issues or violations immediately.
o Prevent cross-contamination by following all policies and procedures.
2. Process management:
o Identify and implement improvements in the planning process that will reduce annual maintenance costs
o Develop and drive Maintenance KPIs to include: MTBF, MTTR, Preventive Maintenance time vs Reactive Maintenance time, PM completion rate, WO backlog, etc,
o Develops, tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, and other performance indicators outlined by the Work Management Process
o Create, implement and manage all department schedules to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, control labor costs and provide for preventative maintenance of all equipment.
o Responsible for development and execution of the annual budget for maintenance labor, supplies, utilities and other relevant expenses.
o Provide support which maximizes production capabilities of the entire plant to include training and availability of maintenance technicians.
o Develops, implements, and manages the maintenance/reliability program based on the Reliability Centered Maintenance Principles, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance
o Perform related duties as assigned by COO.
o Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
o Provide emergency/unscheduled and scheduled repairs on production equipment during production and during scheduled downtime.
o Maintaining close contact with Directors of Operations to ensure maintenance activities occur with minimal disruption to production operations.
o Follows up and reviews the completed schedules and work orders.
o Monitor effectiveness of the preventive and predictive maintenance program to minimize plant breakdowns.
3. Training and Development:
o Champions safety as the first consideration of all team members/contractors and promotes a safe work environment through own behaviors
o Hire, train, and evaluate maintenance team members; monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements. Responsible for ensuring Maintenance team has proper training
o Recruitment of new and replacement personnel and development and delivery of training and engagement opportunities.
o Manage and evaluate the Maintenance staff including but not limited to performance management, employee improvement, and employee development plans, etc.
o Develop on-boarding skills assessment for all new maintenance personnel. Develop quantitative measures for the maintenance skill hierarchy and evaluate existing maintenance team against them.
o Trains maintenance staff on effective maintenance practices, including effective use of the computerized maintenance management system (FIX), problem solving tools, risk and failure analysis, maintenance scheduling and analysis of maintenance related data and equipment histories
o Treat all coworkers with dignity and respect

4. Process Improvement:
o Administer maintenance shift scheduling, work order backlog, and recommended planning for scheduled downtime work, including scheduling availability of parts
o All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company
o Setup and maintain all predictive and preventative maintenance plans in CMMS to maximize equipment reliability
o Determine the most effective method/tool to conduct preventative and predictive maintenance checks based on equipment criticality
o Monitor and report if PM work is being completed to maintain equipment reliability, and comply with regulations and audits
o Monitor and analyze part failure data (along with the maintenance manager) to detect trends (good or bad)
o Develop a culture with an emphasis on Preventative Maintenance techniques
o
5. Research and Innovation:
o Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and new processes that can be applied to waffle and pancake production.
o Lead or participate in additional projects as needed.
Core Competencies
Education / Requirements
4 year degree in an engineering discipline required
· Reliability centered maintenance background with experience in precision methods.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Projects
· Previous experience with a CMMS.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
· Strong ability to plan work while being flexible to changes in scheduling needs.
· 3 - 5 years of management experience (including leading & developing staff).
· Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and all other municipal and state codes.
· Experience with Microsoft Office.
