What You’ll Do:
Direct and coordinate the tire program for all
USX shops. Create, implement, monitor,
and report processes that improve the operation of the tire program. Research
pricing, supply, and product specifications in order to make purchasing
decisions. Give direction and guidance to
staff and vendors on policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Responsible for supervisory functions and personnel management: training, evaluating, assisting employees with tire related issues.
- Provide employee/shop corrective action plans as needed to ensure compliance to Tire Program.
- Design and implement a companywide tire program for all shop locations.
- Recruit and maintain vendors that supply the highest quality tires at the best rates.
- Evaluate vendor quotes that utilize the negotiation and purchasing process to ensure quality, price, delivery and service.
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate tire inventory to ensure efficient, cost-effective maintenance and service at both USX shop locations and offsite vendors.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and streamline the tire program process.
- Coordinate in-service of new trucks and trailers, monitor trade program, and provide proper tire-related reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Provide daily report of all OTR tire purchases; generate tire maintenance reports and verify data as needed.
- Respond to driver issues.
- Ensure the tire program is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Assist vendors with Tire invoices and other issues.
- Review repair orders for tire related issues.
- Participate in accident review with Claims department and provide follow-up with appropriate vendors when tires are part of the issue.
- Ensure OSHA and environmental compliance for scrap tire disposal.
- Coordinate Tire maintenance activities at Dedicated Accounts and yard maintenance where required.
- Meet with staff to ensure consistency with company tire policy and procedure and other issue resolutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Design and coordinate with SrVp of Equipment / Maintenance on a strategic approach to all Tire issues.
- Be the expert in all wheel / tire alignment programs and equipment.
- Drive effective and new measures in the USX tire program.
- Work with our tire OEM to produce technical advancements both in tire technology and tire management & reporting.
- Keep abreast of industry changes and inform leadership of possible impacts (both positive / negative).
What We’re Looking For:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years experience working in a parts coordination or general trucking operations position
Skills/Certifications
- Knowledge of both shop and equipment safety requirements.
- Personnel management skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Understanding of all maintenance sections of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Qualified inspector of Equipment Annual Inspection as defined under FHWA 396.12.
- Qualified Brake Inspector as defined under FHWA 396.25.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of the corporate tire program.
- Driver’s license essential.
