Job Summary

This position includes but is not limited to performing semi-skilled and skilled cleaning, housekeeping and/or general maintenance duties in all areas on the UCDH campus; waste handling for regular, regulated medical waste (rmw) and linen waste and perform other duties as assigned. Ensures all necessary procedures for equipment are used in accordance with departmental safety policies. This position is physically demanding and will require a great deal of lifting, stretching, walking and bending.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Driver's License or valid California Driver’s Temporary Permit and ability to have a valid California Driver’s License within 6 months from date of hire
  • Experience in floor care equipment, materials, procedures and best practices.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Skills to organize and prioritize workload to complete work effectively.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of EVS in healthcare environment.
  • Skills to work collaboratively and independently within a diverse team and fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of floor care equipment, materials, procedures and best practices.
  • Skills to use computers, navigate email and other necessary UC programs.
  • Knowledge of and skills to operate power machines such as floorcare equipment, trash compactor.
  • Knowledge of and skills to operate UCDH vehicles.
  • Skills to use mobile devices, voceras and other communication devices.

Work Environment

Enroll in the DMV Pull Notice Program. Position is subject to a Functional Capacity Assessment for new hires, a Criminal Background Investigation, and a Physical Evaluation. Incumbent must be willing and able to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and float to other units/areas/buildings/runs. This position may include tasks in patient care areas where there are patients under isolation precautions. This position may require staff to clean and handle blood/bodily fluids, hazardous materials and chemical waste. Uniform and/or protective clothing and/or gear will be provided. Job training and orientation will be provided. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs, push/pull 200 lbs., and be able to stand, walk, squat, and kneel for an extended period.

  • This is a critical position, as defined by UC policy and local procedures, and as such, employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check(s), including but not limited to criminal record history background check(s)
  • This is a positions with direct access to or responsibility for controlled substances, high risk hazardous chemicals, biological or radioactive/nuclear materials
