United Cerebral Palsy of Central Pennsylvania (UCP Central PA) is a non-profit organization providing innovative support and services to empower people of diverse abilities to live a meaningful life. The organization strives to offer caring, creative, and effective services to help people of all abilities attain the most significant level of independent living. UCP Central PA was established in 1953 and currently provides supports to more than 2,500 people across 22 counties in central Pennsylvania.
UCP Central PA is seeking individuals or families who want to make a meaningful contribution to someone's life by sharing their home with them. Lifesharing offers individuals the opportunity to be part of a family and to participate in community life.
Lifesharing is a residential service in which a "host" family or individual is willing to open their mind, heart and home to an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability and/or autism. Lifesharing offers opportunities for the indiviudal to learn new skills, discover new hobbies, and explore the community in which they live - all while receiving the supports they need.
Lifesharing at UCP Central PA specializes in creating an environment that empowers individuals to develop skills centered around everyday life and includes the development and promotion of healthy relationships and community inclusion.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates for these independent contractor opportunities must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
- Hold valid vehicle insurance and homeowners/rental insurance
- Pass a background check
Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or autism is preferred, but NOT required.
