Job Opening Summary
The payroll systems manager (PSM) will have primary oversight of UF Health Shands payroll operations, based in Gainesville Florida, for multiple locations across Florida, wherever UF Health has an employee presence. The PSM will be expected to independently generate biweekly (and in some cases weekly) payrolls, including any and all transactions leading up to a successful payroll as well as transactions and documentation that take place during and following the weekly/biweekly payroll. The typical UF Health Shands biweekly paycheck count is approximately 11,000. The PSM will interface with employees at all levels within the organization regarding personal paycheck related inquiries. The PSM will work with internal and external staff and vendors who support and maintain the various Human Resource Information Systems (HRISs) that support payroll operations. The PSM will lead any and all initiatives associated with upgrades to existing payroll and supporting systems and initiatives associated with migrating to new payroll systems - both primary and supporting systems.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or a related concentration is required.
- Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of five years' experience independently running a payroll operation for a medium to large organization; experience running payroll operations for a hospital preferred.
- Must possess a thorough and demonstrated knowledge of all transactions necessary to run a successful payroll to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (IRS, FLSA, DOL, etc.).
- The PSM must have a thorough and demonstrable knowledge of pay practices in organizations that operate 24/7.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of premium payments typically found in hospitals, including salary supplements, shift differentials, on-call and call-back pay, charge pay, float pay and preceptor pay.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate with executives, directors and managers within a hospital system.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
- Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
