Key Responsibilities:

• Collect Patient Specimens: Safely and efficiently collect blood and other specimens from patients inside or outside the hospital, following established procedures.
• Specimen Distribution: Ensure specimens are delivered to the appropriate area(s) within the laboratory for processing.
• Clerical Duties: Perform general clerical tasks such as logging patient information and maintaining accurate records.
• Maintain Patient Confidentiality: Handle patient samples and data with the utmost care and respect for confidentiality.
• Quality and Accuracy: Ensure that all patient specimens are accurately labeled and processed for reporting.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: 2 years of hospital lab/phlebotomy experience.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology or equivalent agency.
• Minnesota DHS Background Clearance: Applicants must have worked in Minnesota recently and be able to provide a Minnesota DHS background clearance prior to acceptance.
• Previous Experience with St. Luke’s: Applicants must have prior experience working with St. Luke’s and be set up with Minnesota/NetStudy background.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate records and sample identity through processing and reporting.
• Patient Confidentiality: Strict adherence to confidentiality standards when handling patient information.

• Judgment and Responsibility: Exercise good judgment in maintaining patient safety during specimen collection.
• Organized and Efficient: Ability to keep work organized and prioritize tasks effectively.
