Position Overview
Director of Accounting will be responsible for managing the Finance and Accounting Team, maintaining and improving processes and standards to manage the complex nature of both UI Charitable and the nonprofit arm, University Impact. This includes financial statements, bookkeeping, and tax filings for both organizations. This position is also responsible for the accurate and timely management of the daily activities and communication related to University Impact’s donor-advised-funds, including contribution and grant transactions, investments, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Update/edit/correct critical data in the system of record
- Expense management
- Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Business performance reporting and analysis
- Asset and treasury management

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Administrative Skills: Experienced in office applications such as Google Workspace and QuickBooks and have experience using or the desire to learn to use other applications.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with finance and accounting. A passion for financial tracking, budgeting, and reporting using Quickbooks.
- Communication Skills: This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as the Director will need to liaise with both internal teams and external providers.
- Project Management Skills: The Director should be capable of handling multiple projects at once, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines. This also includes the ability to coordinate and communicate with various stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: The Director should be able to interpret data, draw conclusions, and present findings clearly and concisely.
- Networking Skills: The ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, donors, and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to solve unforeseen problems quickly and effectively.
- Desire to Learn: The Director should have a strong desire to learn and understand the ins and outs of the UI Charitable tools and programs and their role in achieving social impact.

Education and Experience:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience in accounting. Experience with both nonprofit and for-profit accounting is preferable.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
