Process leave cases (65%):Serves as subject matter expertConsults employees regarding eligibility, impacts to benefits and processesReviews applications and determines eligibility for benefitsScans/files documents received and completes system entriesCompletes and sends required forms and communicationsReviews medical certifications, and provides instructions if incomplete/ insufficientMakes decisions to approve/deny casesReviews Fitness for Duty (FFD) certifications and processes returnsRefers cases to the (ADA) Coordinator, as neededUpdates the system to close casesCollaborates with others to gather information, follow-up, and resolve issuesGenerate reporting (10%):Reviews data from designated systems to monitor current casesDetermine and take actions needed within established deadlines, to ensure compliance of federal, state and university rules and regulationsAudits cases and works with employees and departments to adjust time keeping/leave entriesCreates monthly and ad hoc reports to provide compliance updates to the LOA team and leadershipBenefits continuation and billing (10%):Counsels employees on benefits continuation and conversion/portability options, specific to the type of leave of absenceGenerates benefits billing, according to employees decisions about continuation, and processes transactionsReconciles premiums and takes actions accordinglyPolicies/Procedures, and Process Documentation (10%):Researches and interprets policies for leave of absence (LOA) casesConsults with LOA team, leadership, legal affairs and other departments as neededIdentifies and implements process improvementsCreates and updates process documentationProvides other support (5%):Provide general benefits team and project supportProvides other consultations/benefits administration, as assignedConducts benefit presentationsProvides support for benefits open enrollment, and eventsOther related duties as assigned and desired
