Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and operationally focused Financial Controller with significant experience in manufacturing environments to lead and manage our accounting and financial operations. The Financial Controller would report to our Director of Operations, with dotted-line responsibility to our Chairman and CEO. This is an on-site position based at our headquarters in East Hanover, New Jersey. Key responsibilities would include:

 

1. Financial Leadership:

  • Oversee all aspects and improve efficiencies of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare reports on financial performance and key metrics, while providing insights, analysis and recommendations to senior leadership.

2. Operational Focus:

  • Act as a strategic partner to operations, ensuring financial insights are directly aligned with business needs.
  • Take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement, ensuring the operation runs smoothly from a financial perspective.
  • Own BOM valuation process and perform BOM variance analysis in ERP system.

3. Inventory Management and Controls:

  • Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, and reconciliations.
  • Implement and enforce robust inventory management systems and controls to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work closely with operations to minimize waste and optimize inventory levels.

4. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting process and provide periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and identify variances.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to improve financial outcomes.

5. Cost Accounting:

  • Develop and maintain a cost accounting system tailored to the needs of a manufacturing environment.
  • Analyze and report on production costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.
  • Collaborate with operations to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
  • Utilize inherent cost modeling to set pricing, optimize costs, and assess POI on new process or equipment.

6. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Maintain internal controls and safeguard company assets.
  • Manage external audits and relationships with financial institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.

7. Team Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and provide financial expertise to other departments.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • 6 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and inventory controls.
  • Expertise with accounting software and major ERP system; expertise with Netsuite is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience scaling financial systems and processes in a growing company.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to tackling challenges and driving results.
  • A strong work ethic including a desire to invest significant time and energy in helping to build a highly successful company.

Salary : $90,000 - $150,000
