Position Overview:
United Ag is a dynamic, multi-location agricultural cooperative consisting of 5 retail stores, two retail fuel islands, 4 grain receiving elevators, cotton ginning, cotton bale warehousing, cottonseed warehousing, two bagging plants and a feed mill.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Desktop Support Specialist to provide technical support to end-users and ensure that all desktop systems, software, and related technologies are functioning properly. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installing and configuring new systems, and providing exceptional customer service to users in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance and support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Respond to help desk requests and resolve issues via phone, email, or in-person.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktop operating systems, applications, and connectivity.
- Ensure all software and hardware are up to date, including performing regular maintenance and system upgrades.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining user accounts and permissions.
- Document and track technical issues, solutions, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with other IT team members or vendors to support large-scale IT projects.
- Provide user training on various software applications and computer systems.
- Maintain inventory of computer hardware, peripherals, and software licenses.
- Perform data backups and restoration as needed.
- Ensure adherence to company IT policies, security protocols, and industry standards.
Employee Requirements:
- Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience (1-2 years) in a desktop support or IT support role.
- Familiarity with desktop operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and Server
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts and hardware troubleshooting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in supporting and troubleshooting desktop applications (Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers, etc.).
- Knowledge of network configurations and connectivity issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
- Experience with Active Directory and user account management.
- Understanding of antivirus software and endpoint security practices.
- Familiarity with cloud-based applications and services (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
- Ability to work with both hardware (computers, printers, peripherals) and software issues.
- Experience with VBscript a plus

Work Environment:
- Full-time, in-office position with a standard workweek (40 hours).
- Occasional on-call support during weekends, holidays or after hours may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
