Description
The Administrative Medical Support Tech’s function is to provide administrative support to patients and assist providers (Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Family Nurse Practitioners) and MAs in accordance with UCHC policies and procedures. Position WILL support multiple work sites and require valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance as well as reliable means of transportation.
- Assists the provider with patients before, during and after visit while maintaining smooth patient flow.
- Greets patients with a smile and assists patients with clinic and registration procedures. Answers telephones, schedules appointments, schedules patient’s transportation to and from appointments with UCHC providers, updates patient financial and demographic data in computer. Handles all types of patient service transactions.
- Maintains orderliness of exam rooms by cleaning after each patient and restocking at the end of the day. May assist LPN lead in supply order and stocking.
- Compiles and maintains daily, monthly reports as requested by supervisor or Operations Manager.
- Engages in effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication with patient relatives’ visitors and all members of the multi disciplinary team. Follow up phone calls are initiated per provider direction and instructs patients on the methods of health promotion and disease prevention.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient records confidential in compliance with UCHC and regulatory confidentiality standards and policies.
- Floats to other clinics or departments as needed or directed by a manager or supervisor. Willingly assists co-workers when a need is identified or asked by a co-worker or supervisor.
Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to two years of experience working in a health care environment preferred
- Reliable vehicle and proof of insurance
- Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Certification preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Valid Arizona driver’s license
Experience/Skills
- Ability to work under stressful situations in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrated clinical administrative competencies per clinical competency checklist/review
- Demonstrated customer service orientation (for interactions with patients, families, and UCHC colleagues)
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Prior work experience in healthcare preferred
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasked, stressful environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Ability to speak fluent Spanish is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, application, and adherence to organization and clinic policies and procedures (upon completion of training)
- A team player; able to work in and foster a team environment
