Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient insurance information, facilitating the verification process, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical & Medical terminology, coding, and the insurance verification process within a medical or dental office setting.
Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments or procedures.
- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations and clarifications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Review and interpret ICD-9 codes to ensure proper billing and coding practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in patient information.
- Assist in managing managed care contracts and ensure adherence to their guidelines.
- Provide support to office staff regarding insurance-related inquiries and issues.
- Document all interactions with patients and insurance companies in the system.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical records management and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes, including coding (ICD-9) and managed care principles.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology to facilitate effective communication.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
