The United Methodist Men Foundation seeks nominations of and applications from Strong Wesleyan Christian leaders for consideration as candidates for Executive Director.

United Methodist Men have traditionally been men of vision and purpose. The vision has led the leaders of United Methodist Men to develop new methods to accomplish their goals and make their dreams become reality!

The United Methodist Men Foundation exists to serve God by funding the ministries of the General Commission on United Methodist Men as consistent with Article I of the Charter of the United Methodist Men Foundation. Our vision is to promote stewardship and philanthropy with current and prospective donors to partner in a spirit of servant leadership in building financial assets for future men’s and scouting ministries.

Executive Director Qualifications

The ideal candidate for The United Methodist Men Foundation will be able to articulate their faith journey and how their love for God is active and expressed through their love for others, have a warm and welcoming personality, demonstrate expertise in managing a nimble organization, and have a strong understanding of the United Methodist Church and broader Wesleyan theological tradition. They should be able to build a fund-raising and friend-raising trajectory, have an optimistic vision for the Foundation, and attract top-quality volunteers who are committed to the United Methodist Church and broader Wesleyan-tradition Christian faith. Their experience should include non-profit management, knowledge of donor giving, and the ability to communicate with various Wesleyan audiences.

We seek an Executive Director who has demonstrated core tactical competencies of leading teams within a board of trustees, excellence in stewardship of resources, high intercultural competency, and leads by example.

The United Methodist Men Foundation Board find that distinct qualities are needed in a leader to ensure the Foundation’s ability to fulfill its mission. The Executive Director must affirm and advance these qualities:

  • Evangelistic: Persuasive in inviting and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and Christian faith
  • United Methodist and broader Wesleyan traditions: Embraces the teachings of the United Methodist Church and a pan-Methodist approach that respects differing viewpoints and cultures
  • Leadership: Track record of strategic thinking and effective implementation
  • Fundraising: Expert annual, special gift, and planned giving skills with demonstrated results
  • Integrity: Highly ethical and trusted fiduciary
  • Team Builder: Strong organizing and relationship skills, a nimble collaborator
  • Catalyst: A bias toward innovation and continuous improvement
  • Graduate degree and/or Certification in non-profit management preferred. A Theological degree is a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of nonprofit management or church development/fundraising experience preferred, including donor and grant partner relations.
  • Proven experience leading and developing a volunteer team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of United Methodist Theology, Men’s Ministry, Wesleyan-Methodist theology, history, and pan-Wesleyan denominations.

· Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on engaging diverse audiences, including donors, church leaders, and community members.

· Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and demands, demonstrating a proactive approach to challenges in the nonprofit sector.

  • The United Methodist Men Foundation Executive Director will be a remote Contract position, reporting to the Executive Committee of the UMM Foundation Board.
  • Overnight travel is required on a regular basis. The candidate must be able to travel by car and air.

Ministry for Families- Enabling entire families to see the love of Christ through seminars, trainings, and initiatives designed to strengthen the family unit as a stabilizing force in every community.

Our Vision is focused on the areas of spiritual well -being, the importance of shepherding the next generation of Christian young people, and strong families.

Our new Mission is to provide financial support for the General Commission on United Methodist Men and ministries for Men, Youth, Young Adults, and Families. This new focus enables the United Methodist Men Foundation to invest in Ministries across a spectrum of the Wesleyan Tradition, allowing your investment in our Foundation to be utilized not only in local churches across the United Methodist Church, but in local churches aligned with our focus on Men, Youth, and Families.
