Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Manager of Operations who will be responsible for the operations of multiple Distribution Centers on the West Coast. This person will drive operational excellence across multiple locations, including ensuring the productivity of distribution centers, and the quality of service. Direct reports include Distribution Center Managers and other Distribution Center personnel. They will also work closely with the VP of Operations, HSE Coordinator, Transportation Manager, Inventory Control Manager, and other Senior/Regional Operations Managers. The candidate for this position must be able to report to our Rialto, CA distribution center located at 206 South Lilac Avenue, Rialto, CA 92376.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Train, motivate, supervise, and evaluate Distribution Center Managers
- Ensure DCs follow all company SOPs ensuring standardization.
- Track KPIs and achieve annual improvement goals for Safety, Quality, Inventory Control, Efficiency, and Spending
- Communicate KPIs to all DCs.
- Learn, be proficient, and be able to train in On Demand and P21
- Communicate and cascade information effectively to all assigned personnel.
- Embrace and drive sustained change/Continuous Improvement
- Possess detailed knowledge of our products and be able to train for acceptable quality.
- Ideal candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of labor laws in each state they operate in, ensuring compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Play a key role in executing operational plans for the potential launch of a new location in the Pacific Northwest.
Support and be able to fill in for a DC Manager:
- Manage safety and compliance of employees, equipment, and buildings.
- Perform daily safety and building inspections (OSHA Guidelines)
- Perform daily equipment inspections.
- Check the safety of all loads before they leave the facility.
- Promote a positive team environment and increase employee engagement.
- Maintain personnel and equipment files.
- Work with Human Resources on the recruiting and onboarding of employees.
- Inventory: Follow all inventory control SOP
- Transportation:
- Develop Routes and plan loads that meet Sales objectives.
- Let Sales set priorities if there is a conflict.
- Ensure equipment is maintained to DOT and Driver satisfaction.
- Maintain the communication flow with the sales & leadership team.
- Executer delivery plan that exceeds customer expectations
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Required & Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to travel as necessary (up to 75%)
- 5 years’ experience in Distribution Center management to include Class A Drivers
- 3 years of multi-site management
- Strong leadership, team building, and interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate and teach at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of current United Pipe & Steel Systems
- Expert in inventory control
- Knowledge of DOT compliance laws
- Highly Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) including Microsoft Teams
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
- Ability to drive change.
- Financial acumen a plus
- Plumbing wholesale industry knowledge, a plus
- Ability to communicate and operate electronically via smartphone (texts, email, calendar management, and other business-related apps)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently remains stationary at times.
- Constantly operates a computer, mobile device, and other office equipment.
- Frequent overnight travel is required.
- Must wear and work with personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects (~75 lbs.), bend, stretch, climb on and off trailers, and re-tarping trucks.
- Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid state-issued license
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Able to pass background checks and drug tests.
