TeQ Shield Level 1 Technician
United Safety's TeQ Shield L1 Technician(s) remote manages and monitors multiple confined space entries from a remote and centralized CCTV/Access control system platform based in a Command Center at a client project site. TeQ Shield is an innovative system that enables the Technician to monitor the safety of employees and contractors working in and around multiple confined spaces or other hazardous environments during plant turnaround projects. The TeQ Shield Operator position responsibilities entail delivering equipment to the site, installing the equipment at the plant, including in and around confined spaces, monitoring contractor activities in towers, tanks and vessels when under our team's care to ensure their safety, and then removing equipment at the completion of the project.
Requirements / Competencies
The TeQ Shield Operator position requires a minimum of either one year of experience within the oil and gas industry (refinery or chemical plant) and/or significant experience in electrical contracting. Incumbents must also be able to climb stairs and ladders, walk extended distances and lift up to 50 pounds. They must be able to complete the daily check of the system in a safe and timely manner. The Technicians must also be attentive while monitoring live video footage of work activities taking place. They must comfortably operate the security/safety software platform to perform their safety monitoring duties. Must have daily reliable transportation to and from project.
A high school diploma is also required as well as a high level of focus and attention to detail. A minimum of either 2 years of experience within the oil and gas industry (refinery or chemical plant) and/or significant experience in safety is needed. Knowledge and experience of CCTV systems and network cabling is highly desired. Background in security is also desired. - Be available to attend and completed TeQ Shield L1 training and certification (essential)
- Be available follow and comprehend training and / or instructions necessary for a specific project.
- CSE attendant / safety tech experience is a plus
- Knowledge of CCTV, Access and Security systems
- Computer skills with office software experience
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, have a mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
- Has Knowledge and experience to proactively observe the work environment and able to prioritize and then address changing situations, positive attitude, team player and a problem solver
- Knowledge of safe equipment handling and working at height
- Able to work in country and abroad (Clean Background)
- Able to work a Turnaround schedule In or out of town (7/12)
- Must be Fluent in reading and writing English
- Must be able to work under pressure and maintain deadlines with a positive attitude
- Must be extremely reliable and punctual (arriving at site and at rollovers on time)
- Must be Focused, dedicated, independent results-oriented team player that can follow directions
- Must Be a positive, effective representative of both United Safety and TeQ Shield Guardian
- Takes initiative in both work and in safety/security matters
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Assume responsibility for the contractor while on the worksite
