The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR-ORIENTATION & NEW STUDENT PROGRAMS to serve as a member of the Enrollment and Student Success Leadership Team and report to the Vice Provost for Enrollment and Student Success. To develop, plan, and implement a dynamic and student-centered Blazer Beginnings Orientation for all new students and their families, as well as other programs which serve special populations in the UAB community. To collaborate with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs departments to provide students a seamless transition to the University and promote student engagement, success, and retention.
Responsibilities:
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, College Student Personnel, or a related field and five (5) years of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, or related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Responsibilities:
- Develops, plans, and implements a high profile, dynamic, and student-centered orientation program for all new first-year and transfer undergraduate students and their families, serving over 4,000 incoming students along with their family members annually.
- Directs the day-to-day administration of the Blazer Beginnings Orientation and Birmingham Promise programs within Academic Affairs.
- Directly supervises several professional staff members (1 Director and 2 Assistant Directors).
- Creates strategic vision and priorities to advance the work of the department and support the
- Oversees the development of departmental assessment plans to determine programmatic learning outcomes and impact of orientation and transition programs and services.
- Directs the development and management of orientation registration processes in coordination with Admissions. Liaises with stakeholders to develop orientation scheduling and capacities as well as address registration issues.
- Oversees the recruitment, selection, and training of a large and diverse background of undergraduate student orientation leaders.
- Oversees the communication planning process as well as the management of departmental website, publications, and electronic messaging, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications and Enrollment Management as appropriate.
- Manages a complex annual budget of approximately $1 million and conduct regular budget analysis, including expenditure projections and year-end balance management. Serve on a variety of University committees as requested and directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
