The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR II to assist on clinical team to address day-to-day patient needs and issues. Explain billing and collections process to patients. Also responsible for coordinating and/or administering certain clinical and patient services and for performing administrative duties in support of physician staff and operations. Responsible for the conduct of patient scheduling. Coordinates outpatient scheduling and facilitates in-patient pre-certification and admitting processes as necessary. Serves as an advocate for patient and patient family assisting patients and patient families with obtaining services and assistance available within the University or Birmingham community. Answers patient and patient family inquiries verbally or in writing. Assists in resolving patient problems. Follows up with patients and patient families regarding post-treatment/post-operative status. May supervise clerical staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for check in and check out of clinics. Ensure patients sign consents for each appointment.
- Confirm appointments.
- Schedule emergency appointments weekly.
- Answer phones and return phone calls.
- Collect payments.
- Set up new patient accounts.
- Verify insurance.
- Run end of the day reports.
- Send out certified contact letters.
- Put patients on waiting and referral lists.
- Resolve patient inquiries.
- Take care of resident requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
