Job Summary
Under general supervision, provide support in purchasing / accounts payable, serve as the Department receptionist and provide various aspects of administrative support.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position
- Experience providing administrative support in a business office environment including front office phones, greeting visitors, planning meetings, conference calls and department events.
- Experience in accounting and purchasing. Knowledge and skills to investigate purchasing and accounts payable problems and to make decisions on resolutions.
- Experience using automated financial systems.
- Organizational skills to complete record keeping and filing functions.
- Computer skills to use PC with knowledge of various word processing and spreadsheet software. Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and writing skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively and professionally, tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff, students, and public.

Department Overview
The Department of Plant Biology is a teaching and research unit within the College of Biological Sciences. The business office provides support to the following programs : Department of Plant Biology, Greenhouse, and Conservatory. The Department of Plant Biology currently consists of 16 primary ladder-rank faculty, including faculty associated with the UC Davis Genome Center. The Department also has 6 other academic staff, 13 Emeritus faculty, 6 career staff, 40-60 Teaching Assistants, and numerous Readers, student assistants, postdoctoral fellows.
