Under the general direction of the Office Manager, serve as Human Resources Manager for Child Care Services to 40 career employees and over two hundred student employees. Provide advice and assistance to management in interpreting and applying policies under collective bargaining unit agreements and UC personnel regulations. Aids the Office Manager with oversight of enrollment at Child Care Services as well as serve as a backup to Office Manager in providing reports to CDE and CDSS for the subsidized program. Oversee the preparation and completion of special projects within Child Care Services. Position will be required to be on-site.
Uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.

Required:
5-7 years of experience in personnel analysis and Human Resources management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills.
Has working knowledge of other areas of HR.
Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas.
Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.
Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills.
Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels at UCI.
Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and in integrating information in the completion of assignments.
Ability to identify problems, gather data, research alternative solutions, display the information and recommendations professionally, implement the solution, and evaluate the results.
Ability to work independently, organizing, prioritizing, and processing detailed work to meet established deadlines.
Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software such as MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as knowledge of electronic mail keeping systems. The ability to audit monthly time sheets, sick leave, and vacation reports.
Ability to reconcile monthly payroll ledgers.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute both as an individual and a team member to achieve the goals of the department.
Preferred:
Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
Bilingual in Spanish.
Knowledge and experience with UCI payroll and on-line time reporting processes.
Experience working with represented and non-represented employees.
Experience working in an academic/university setting.
Special Conditions Required:
Position will be working on-site.
Documentation of absence of active tuberculosis.
Documentation of MMR and DTAP immunizations as required by Community Care Licensing.
