Job Summary
University of Colorado Bounder Science Discovery encourages applications for a Summer Materials Team Member! Our materials team is an integral part of the machine that is summer camp! Their mission is to capture, coordinate and deliver all the materials that would be needed to run a week full of STEM programming for grades K-12 for a total of 8 weeks.

Who We Are
CU Science Discovery is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education outreach organization in the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Science Discovery collaborates with CU faculty, research groups, institutes, and graduate and undergraduate students to develop and deliver hands-on, inquiry-based programs for K-12 students and teachers that feature CU STEM research and model standard methodologies in teaching and learning.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Coordinating, packing and preparing materials and supplies for approximately 50 half-day/full-day summer camps and high school classes throughout the 8-week summer program.
- Reading a Materials Request Form (MRF) to determine what materials are needed for individual programs; if information is unclear, using the accurate channels to seek clarification. Communication is key!
- Using strategy when packing materials boxes (eg. Placing fragile items on the top portion of the box, as opposed to placing them beneath heavy items. Food safe items packed separate of all other materials, etc.).
- Ensuring that returned materials are clean and fully functioning before being passed along to the next camp or reintegrating them back into CUSD materials.
- Supervising materials and communicating needs to Jack.
- Conducting detailed and accurate periodic inventories on materials and supplies through the duration of the summer program.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as closely with other members of the Materials Team.
- Working at all times with phenomenal prioritization, prioritizing tasks as you go.
What You Should Know
- This is a temporary, full time position anticipated to last through August 2023. This position is fully in person.
What We Can Offer
- Salary: $16.00 - 17.00 per hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require
- One year of experience related to the work assignment. Appropriate education may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.

- Strong communication skills. Efficient in the organization of job duties and tasks. Strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment. Must be able to work well in a team environment & alone with minimal direction. Flexibility is vital, as tasks can shift throughout any given day. Ability to take instructions/feedback.
