Duties and Responsibilities
Under general supervision, develop curriculum for and teach a wide range of business courses in traditional, online, and hybrid/blended learning environments. Teaching assignments may be for day, evening, and/or weekend offerings at the Leeward CC Pearl City (Puuloa) campus and/or off-campus such as Leeward CC – Waianae Moku and local area high schools (pending background clearance) or other satellite campuses. Related work activities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in campus related student activities;
- Collaborating with industry and Leeward CC faculty to develop and update innovative business programs that meet community workforce development needs;
- Participating in faculty and administrative committees, and performing community and college service;
- Developing and maintaining a professional self-improvement plan;
- Collecting data and preparing reports;
- Preparing, adapting, and revising student learning outcomes;
- Independently planning, organizing and carrying out instructional and non-instructional assignments;
- Conducting course assessment and other assessment of instruction based on student learning outcomes and improve student learning based on results of assessment data.
- Maintaining minimum office hours per week for each course taught.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in General Business; or
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA); or
- Bachelor’s degree in General Business and 3 years of related work experience.
Minimum qualifications (degrees and credits) must be earned from regionally or nationally accredited postsecondary colleges and universities recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and met by the effective date of appointment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience teaching at the community college-level in a range of vocational as well as transfer-level courses including (but not limited to): business, management, marketing, entrepreneurship, hospitality and tourism.
- Experience teaching various modalities including traditional, online, and blended/hybrid.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of student populations.
- Demonstrated ability in leadership, communication and written skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively to achieve organizational goals.
