Other Conditions:

General funds will begin at approximately August 2025, pending the availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. Based on operational needs, the position may be converted from 9 to 11 months or 11 to 9 months.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, instruct students in transfer and non-transfer-level Business Technology courses.
  • The workload involves in-person teaching but may include various off-campus locations islandwide, day or evening classes, weekend classes, and distance education classes using multiple teaching methodologies as assigned.
  • Ensures that all federal, state, and university safety regulations and practices are promoted and adhered to for a safe learning environment.
  • Prepares and revises course outcomes and participates in Business curriculum planning and assessment.
  • Prepares, revises, and assesses course objectives and student learning outcomes at the course, program, and college levels.
  • Plans, organizes, and completes instructional and non-instructional assignments, including program assessments and reviews.
  • Maintains a minimum of one office hour, in person, per week for each course taught.
  • Conducts academic advising of students and assists in campus-related student activities.
  • Mentors and advises students.
  • Develops and maintains an approved program of professional self-improvement activities.
  • Participate in department, college and community service, including but not limited to committee and recruitment activities as appropriate.
  • Assists with/participates in campus-related activities and all in-service training.
  • Engages in public service and professional/scholarly activities related to the profession.
  • Commitment to community college principles and philosophy is essential.
  • Maintains current certifications if applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Education; OR
  • Master’s degree in a Business related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Business Technology or Administrative Support courses; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and 3 years of related work experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Business Technology or Administrative Support courses and 3 years of related work experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field and 3 years of related work experience

Business related field includes: Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Information Technology, Finance, or other similar business degree.

Business Technology or Administrative support courses include: UHCC BUSN alpha courses or similar

Related work experience includes: work experience that includes skills taught in Business Technology Programs, e.g., records management following industry-approved Association for Records Managers an Administrators (ARMA) procedures, document formatting, etc; and/or secondary or postsecondary Business Education teaching experience.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certification in the current version of the Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Access.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer service, records management and business communication.
  • Evidence of successful higher education teaching in a community college setting.
  • Experience in curriculum development, evaluation, or teaching methods.
  • Experience with utilizing instructional technology to deliver distance education.
  • Willingness and ability to teach all topics in Business Technology.
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience supporting the success of community college students.
