Job Summary
The University of Kentucky is seeking a proactive Research Area Fiscal Officer and Director of the Research Administration and Fiscal Affairs Office ( RAFA ). This role will lead RAFA with responsibility for daily financial, personnel, and payroll services to Research administrative departments and core facilities.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Policy Development
Supervision and Mentoring: Lead the RAFA team, fostering professional development and achieving departmental goals.
Financial Transactions Oversight: Ensure efficient and compliant processing of financial transactions, leveraging financial technology and data analytics.
Strategic Assessment: Evaluate staffing, process improvement, and technology needs, providing recommendations to the Vice President for Research ( VPR ).
Policy Implementation: Develop and implement departmental policies to ensure compliance with research, financial, and human resources standards.
Advisory Role: Advise the VPR on the fiscal impacts of new policies and represent the research division in university-wide policy discussions.
Financial Management
Budget Management: Oversee and manage the annual budget for the Office of Research.
Senior Financial Leader: Serve as the senior financial leader for the University of Kentucky Research Foundation ( UKRF ), developing and implementing financial strategies for research infrastructure.
Innovation and Efficiency: Enhance decision-making processes through advanced financial technologies and data analytics.
Resource Allocation: Prepare and allocate budgets for research units, including centers, institutes, and core facilities under the VPR .
Financial Monitoring: Ensure accounting accuracy, compliance, and effective financial management across research units.
