What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Resource RN position at University Of Maryland Medical System?
This role provides critical support to all nursing units during off-shift hours, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care. As a clinical resource, you will provide bedside education, coaching, and guidance to patients and families in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- You will offer visible support to team members by actively engaging in rounds for improvement and staying informed about initiatives and staff competencies.
- Identify situations that require notification of the Patient Care Supervisor or unit leader and collaborate with them on any unresolved issues.
- Facilitate appropriate assignments for the oncoming shift based on acuity, census, and staff competencies.
- Ensure staff are taking meal breaks during shifts and provide clinical support by acting as a consultant on clinical and administrative decisions.
- Act as a preceptor for staff requiring support with new procedures, situations, or skills.
- Assist with coordinating timely admissions, delegation, or redistribution of work and identification of staffing needs.
- Communicate effectively and professionally, demonstrating respect for other healthcare team members and addressing customer service issues.
- Round on patients, families, and staff as needed and identify safety concerns by entering occurrence reports.
- Conduct unit inspections to ensure general cleanliness and lack of clutter in public areas and conference rooms.
- Ensure survey readiness by clearing corridors, checking fire alarms and extinguishers, and securing oxygen tanks.
- Provide chart audits and peer feedback.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a Clinical Nurse II level position.
- ACLS certification.
Current EKG competency is required.
- Previous experience in a Clinical Nurse III or IV level position is preferred.

Compensation
- Pay range: $44.76-$67.19 per hour.
