Division of Food, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences
We are looking for a Research Specialist to join the research group of Dr. Jacqueline Limberg in the Division of Food, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. Our group conducts basic mechanistic research in humans through a number of active clinical trials funded through the American Heart Association and National Institutes of Health. The purpose of the research is to advance the understanding of mechanisms contributing to cardiovascular disease progression in adults with obesity-related conditions (e.g. sleep apnea, insulin resistance, hypertension) and how these mechanisms may differ by sex. The Research Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our research efforts and ensuring the efficient operation of our research group.
Research and Project Management - 50%
- Assist with IRB modifications, reviews and requests
- FDA IND Submissions, annual reports and updates
- Quality assurance of study worksheets and project logs
- Management of lab results
- Equipment maintenance/sterilization
- Assist with participant recruitment, scheduling, and screening
- Monitor supply inventory
- Assist with data collection and sample processing
Procurement and Payment Processing - 25%
- Obtain supply quotes
- Study participant payment processing
- Ordering and purchasing lab supplies
- Conducing budget reports and audits
- Review invoices, confirm charges, pay bills
Communication - 20%
- Creation and management of recruitment advertisements
- Point of contact for Limberg Lab
- Monitoring lab email for participant inquiries
- Meet with prospective students
- Coordinate student schedules
Other duties as assigned - 5%
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5 pm, some nights and weekends may be necessary depending on study needs and will be accommodated with a flexible schedule.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as a part of a research team
Salary Range: $18.50 -$24.00/hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
