The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Psychiatry Fellowship provides two unique and intensive training programs in psychiatry for Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP); Adult Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. Throughout the twelve-month program, fellows will gain experience in a variety of clinical settings with a diverse patient population. The program is part of the University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry where APP fellows are supervised, supported, mentored, and taught by dedicated faculty physicians and experienced psychiatric APPs.

As part of an academic medical center, APP fellows are provided with the unique opportunity to train in an academic medical center dedicated to offering continuing medical education and compassionate care. The fellowship closely mirrors a psychiatric physician residency program and fellow will have the unique opportunity to work and train along psychiatric resident physicians as well as an APP fellow cohort.

The program is balanced with didactic education and clinical training. Through both didactic education and direct patient care, APP fellows will receive extensive clinical education in psychiatric pathology and etiology, psychiatric evaluation and diagnostic formulation, psychopharmacology, medicolegal and ethical principles, electronic medical record training and patient management.

Upon graduation, APP fellows will have the training, experience, and confidence to provide a wide-range of psychiatric services in almost any clinical setting.
