Position Summary
Develop strategic plans for advising Exploring Students in the INDS Exploratory pathway, and provide strategic guidance to Director of Maverick Advising Center as it relates to academic advising and best practices. Manage and support professional advising staff. Advise, educate, and support students with academic and career related decisions. Responsible for supervising all Maverick Advising Center academic advisors; academic advising of exploring students enrolled in INDS; deploying best practices of working with exploring students; setting and documenting metrics of success for Maverick Advising Center advising; Overseeing and leading the implementation of various programs including but not limited to Degree Discovery Days, Enrollment Days, probation events, etc. Participate in monthly campus-wide Academic Advising Council meetings, campus-wide committees and communicate regularly with academic advising colleagues. Be an active participant of the Academic Leads Council. Teach First Year Experience course(s).

Oversee and lead academic advising functions related to the advising of Exploratory Studies, Workforce Partnerships, and prospective transfer students (probation programming, honors, enrollment days, programming, etc); provide direction to advisors who coordinate or help carry out projects (probation programming, honors, enrollment days, events, etc.); utilize data-informed, research-based, high impact practices to support student perseverance to graduation through academic advising activities; develop and implement assessment metrics to evaluate and improve academic advising services; serve as primary advisor to a caseload of students; serve as point of contact for escalating advisee needs and concerns; conduct transcript evaluations.
