What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist position at University of New Mexico?
The Physician Assistant Program in the Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a people-oriented Educational Specialist for didactic educational coordination and support. This position will work closely with PA Program students, faculty, and staff in support of the 18-month didactic portion of the curriculum, as well as with events throughout the program. Primary duties will include didactic curriculum student and faculty support, event coordination, purchasing, outreach, assisting with documentation for accreditation, and other functions to support the PA Program's mission of educating PA students to become exemplary providers with a focus on primary care medicine for the underserved and rural populations of New Mexico.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Engage with faculty and students in support of the classroom-based didactic portion of the curriculum, including facilitating classroom sessions, online learning management systems, exam proctoring, exam reviews, room scheduling, and calendaring.
* Coordinate PA Program events, such as white coat and convocation ceremonies, new student orientation, program retreats, admissions interviews, alumni and preceptor events, and other events involving students, faculty, staff, leadership, alumni, preceptors, and external partners.
* Complete purchasing and track expenditures for didactic course activities and program events.
* Recruit diverse student populations to the PA Program through outreach initiatives across the university and the state, including supporting the PA Program's HRSA grant outreach initiatives related to recruitment and alumni engagement.
* Collaborate with PA Program staff to assist with maintenance of documentation, data entry, and compliance tracking in support of the Program's accreditation work.
* Work with PA Program faculty and staff to support the program admission process.
* Serve as a backup for administrative operations such as office management, meeting scheduling, minute taking, and other support.
* Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
* Experience working with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and/or community partners in an educational program
* Experience with administrative coordination, including calendars, meeting scheduling, and meeting minutes
* Experience collecting and maintaining documentation
* Event planning experience
* Purchasing and budget experience
* Experience with student recruitment/outreach
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Critical thinking skills as demonstrated by use of independent judgment to solve complex problems
* Self-starter, process-oriented team player
* Flexible and willing to assist with program activities and other duties outside of primary responsibilities
