Description
The Department of Social Work at the University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer. A Ph.D. in Social Work or a related area is preferred, an MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution, with at least two years of post-MSW practice experience is required. Masters level license-eligible / licensed preferred. Salary will be commensurate with degree, rank, and experience. Essential Job Duties
Duties of the position include teaching 4-5 courses each semester in the online MSW program, as well as student mentoring / advisement responsibilities. Instructional areas may include research, human behavior in the social environment, social welfare policy, social work practice with individuals and families, and macro social work practice. Additional important responsibilities include maintaining office hours in accordance with University policy, serving as liaison between the Department of Social Work and the community, and performing other tasks / duties essential to the Department.
Applicants should have a high commitment to effective classroom teaching, student advising and mentoring, curriculum development, and professional activity. The position in the department, which is actively involved in a variety of community-based research projects, requires a strong commitment to excellence in graduate teaching. Applicants may be asked to teach in both the BSW and the MSW programs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program (required), Ph.D. in Social Work or a related area preferred, and minimum two years post-MSW social work practice experience in a social services setting is required.
