Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Admissions’ primary goal is to recruit, admit, and enroll students who will thrive within our collegiate community. This unit oversees the entire process, from recruitment to enrollment.
Regular interaction and contact with the public, including professionals in all disciplines of the university, is involved. These interactions require an accurate knowledge of relaying Admissions policies and procedures set forth by the University and the Office of Admissions.
Our office is actively engaged in diverse activities aimed at promoting and facilitating the wide array of programs, activities, and opportunities available at UNCW. Through these efforts, we seek to effectively communicate the university’s offerings to prospective students and the broader community.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The First Year Admissions Coordinator is responsible for the following duties:
- Recruiting highly qualified high school students
- Daily management of a geographic region
- Participating in on and off-campus recruitment events
- Traveling extensively in the assigned region in order to attract qualified students
- Evaluating applications for admissions
- Meeting and communicating effectively with students, parents, high school counselors, alumni & student volunteers and faculty
- Representing UNCW in college fairs and in the community
- Applying related policies and regulations of the UNC System, UNCW, and the Office of Admissions
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- This position must have the ability to interpret and apply related policies and regulations of the UNC systems, UNCW, and the Office of Admissions.
