Position Summary

The Associate Director of Student Involvement for Greek Life and Programs provides direction for four functional and intersectional areas within the Division of Student Affairs: Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Programs, Orientation, and Residence Life. The Associate Director will have full programmatic responsibility for supporting, developing, and implementing existing programs and new initiatives within the fraternity and sorority community. This includes advising Greek House Coordinators. This position will also support the execution and planning of concerts and lectures. In addition, the Associate Director will collaborate with the Passages orientation team to plan and execute new student orientation. Finally, this position will serve on the Resident Director on-call rotation and is a live-in position.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Fraternity and Sorority Life
    • Advise and mentor the Panhellenic and IFC executive boards.
    • Advise and mentor fraternity and sorority chapter presidents.
    • Advise 5-8 Greek House Coordinators.
    • Plan and implement fraternity and sorority recruitment, in collaboration with IFC and Panhellenic.
    • Educate student leaders in program philosophy and planning, committee administration, group dynamics, motivation, and organizational structure.
    • Plan and facilitate fraternity and sorority leadership retreats.
    • Communicate regularly with fraternity and sorority alumni advisors.
  • Divisional and Campus wide Collaboration:
    • Support the Director of Student Programs in the execution of campus concerts, lectures and events.
    • Serve as a key member of the Passages Orientation Team.
    • Serve on the Resident Director on-call rotation.
    • Co-facilitate leadership training component of Passages Orientation leader training with Director of Orientation and Leadership.
    • Engagement with major campus initiatives.
  • Supervision
    • Supervise and support the Director of Student Programs
    • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor student employees and leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned
    • Represent Student Affairs on myriad University committees.
    • Divisional committee work.
    • Assist in providing risk mitigation oversight for multiple activities, programs, and events.

Qualifications

Candidates must be able to explain and/or demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Master's Degree in Student Development Administration, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Leadership Programs or related field
  • Experience with identity development, leadership development, and/or social justice leadership education.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, current risk management practices in fraternity and sorority life.
  • Understanding of systems of oppression, identity, and social justice and desire and openness to continue learning.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to timely communication and follow-through related to job duties
  • Self-motivated work ethic & a desire to proactively engage students, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Ability to speak and present in front of groups
  • Ability to develop training and educational programs
  • Ability to work with and lead a team
  • Experience with event planning and program facilitation
  • Attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and willingness to perform assigned duties with excellence and enthusiasm
  • Creative, innovative, and organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively and be comfortable building professional relationships. Write concisely without grammatical errors.
  • Ability to prioritize & carry out multiple tasks
  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
  • Knowledge of word processing and desktop publishing
  • Willingness to seek guidance or support when needed

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated range for this position is $25.38 - $28.46. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.

  • Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.

  • Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits.

This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
