Compensation Range:

$96,860.00 - $145,290.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Plans and coordinates operations, maintenance, alteration, and repair of building and grounds. Oversees the execution of facilities projects and coordinates activities within assigned areas. Develops budgets, sets priorities, inspects and schedules all operations and maintenance requirements for assigned area. Consults and collaborates on recommendations for staff requirements, hiring, training, staff development and performance evaluations. Organizes staff and assigns responsibilities. Develops and maintains communications with all clients/users. Ensures facility performance meets all needs and expectations of users while simultaneously meeting all regulations, codes, guidelines, and environmental care standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, organizes, and directs activities of assigned staff in the planning, organization, and production of maintenance, repair, and alteration services within the area. Arranges contractual services for plant operations and acts in the resolution of facilities maintenance problems.
  • Ensures compliance with general, fiscal, and personnel policy and procedure guidelines. Follows Federal, State, and University regulations, codes, and guidelines. Ensures departmental compliance for all environmental care standards, such as JCAHO and NFPA 101.
  • Prepares and implements capital renewal and building operating budgets. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of construction and capital projects for the assigned area. Works closely with other administrators and exercises budget control for assigned budgets.
  • Reviews construction plans and technical specifications to ensure the facilities infrastructure meets operations and maintenance service requirements.
  • Analyzes control reports to identify and investigate significant deviations. Identifies possible trends and/or inconsistencies and makes presentations and recommendations. Maintains necessary files to accomplish evaluations and appraisals. Maintains records for cost accounting, verification of billing, and prepares and submits management reports as required. Develops detailed project reports. Maintains responsibility and tracking of bidding process, including specifications related records. Takes corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Hires or makes recommendations on the hiring of the department staff, completes performance reviews, and recommends promotions, salary, and other personnel matters. Consults and collaborates on recommendations for staff requirements, training, and staff development. Determines composition and organization of staff and assigns responsibilities. Handles grievances and ensures constructive labor relations.
  • Introduces and maintains new methods and procedures, products, and equipment. Works closely with other University Facilities and Services operating groups and Planning and Project Management to provide technical assistance, including review and support of design, engineering safety regulations, and operational issues. Provides in-house sketches, drawings, and engineering reviews necessary to support the operations, construction, and service groups.
  • Serves on various committees. Works closely with University departments concerning health and safety hazards and security. Acts as principal coordinator for Facilities on safety concerns and patient care/life safety issues.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities planning, architecture or related discipline and 5 years of management experience of a large educational or medical facility required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
