Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education is strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to interpret policies and procedures and communicate effectively to administration, staff, faculty, and students; ability to plan and coordinate vital administrative functions; ability to be pro-active and meet deadlines; ability to train others of various levels of experience; high level user of MicroSoft Office and Adobe applications; thorough understanding of Academic Affairs operations and policies; broad understanding of human resources principles and how to apply them to an academic setting. Use discretion when dealing with confidential information; develop and cultivate positive and beneficial relationships with human resources staff and other offices on campus and on the main campus.

Coordinates with and advises Deans and Department Chairs on faculty recruitment efforts that are timely, competitive, cost-effective, and accessible; Liaises with the USC Upstate Human Resources Office and Office of International Scholars to ensure compliance with all university policies and state/federal laws; Posts required advertisements for full-time positions and maintains necessary records; Assists new faculty with hiring procedures, onboarding, and orientation; Plans and leads trainings and workshops annually for administrators, search committee members, and administrative staff on search processes.

Responsible for the tracking and processing of all faculty human resources actions such as appointments, reappointments, sabbaticals, modified duties, etc.; Initiates all forms of appointment-related extra compensation for faculty (supplements, summer pay, etc.); Reviews and processes all other HR actions initiated by departments (stipends, overloads, summer pay, salary adjustments, etc.); initiates and/or approves all temporary hiring activities in Academic Affairs; Resolves and troubleshoots issues with faculty pay; Plans and leads trainings 2-3 times per year on Adjunct hiring and coordinates additional sessions when major changes in policies and/or procedures necessitate training; Maintains proficiency in PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin as a user and as a main contact for support.
