The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.

The Digital Learning Support Specialist provides design, technical support expertise in Blackboard and related course technologies. The position assists with aspects of digital content maintenance, quality assurance, course and content development in the Blackboard environment, and faculty instructional support for graduate-level courses and programs. The Digital Learning Support Specialist supports faculty with all aspects of digital instruction, including course readiness and preparation, content accessibility, and effective use of course technologies. The Digital Learning Support Specialist ensures that quality standards, brand promise, and the USAHSs vision and mission are reflected in all aspects of the student experience. The position supports faculty across all USAHS campuses (San Marcos, Austin, Dallas, Miami, or St. Augustine) and is primarily remote, with some business travel needed to any of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences campuses. Flexible working hours are required, including some evenings and weekends. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides exemplary customer service, both through the service desk and online (synchronous and asynchronous), to support an exceptional delivery of courses, and effective use of teaching and learning tools. Maintains digital content in master courses, ensuring that learning materials, activities and assessments are all aligned with learning outcomes / objectives, provide full functionality, are consistent with USAHS design standards, and provide the best possible learning experience for students. Partners with faculty and academic leadership to perform quality assurance functions for both master and live courses, including technical course support, meticulous proofreading, and editing. Collaborates with Learning Innovation Designers and Digital Media Designers, in the development of digital course content (including multimedia content) and maintenance of media asset repositories and inventories. Builds all course components within the LMS, assuring courses meet and exceed USAHS design and other quality standards, such as universal design for learning, and web content accessibility standards. Identifies problems and offers quick and sustainable solutions, ensuring both course developments and student experiences in live courses stay exceptional. Helps develop knowledge bases and technical documentation. Special projects as assigned. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time. May require occasional business travel to any of the USAHS campuses (San Marcos, Austin, Dallas, Miami, or St. Augustine). Flexible working hours are required, including some evenings and weekends. POSITION IN ORGANIZATION Reports to : Sr. Director, Digital Learning & Design. Positions Supervised : None TECHNICAL, MANAGERIAL & PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required. Incumbents will be evaluated, in part, based on the performance of each essential function. EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE A minimum of 3 years of online course development and support experience, or related experience within a higher education environment. A Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred) in the field of expertise is required, preferably in instructional design, education, curriculum development, or teaching and learning. A minimum of 3 years using a learning management system such as Blackboard (strongly preferred), Brightspace, Moodle, Canvas. Fluency using digital content development tools (such as Articulate 360, H5P, Adobe Creative Cloud, Kaltura) for developing instructional materials (such as interactive presentations, video, multimedia) required. Work samples or a portfolio may be reviewed during the interview process. Knowledge of ADA accessibility (504 and 508) and digital copyright laws, and implementation standards such as WCAG 2.2 preferred. Experience with Quality Matters (QM); peer or master reviewer certification preferred. Experience in training, mentoring, or teaching others is strongly preferred. Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
