Salary

Salary Range: Up to $49,418.97 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours per Week

Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Function: To perform routine accounting assignments for the University.

Scope: Responsible for the application of accounting knowledge. Review university departmental work. Perform complex reconciliations.

Duties

Typical:

• Prepare, examine, audit, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Prepare month/year-end closing entries and various other reports.
• Communicates with departmental personnel and assists with departmental questions as needed.
• Prepares timely, accurate and complex reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Assists with the preparation of work papers supporting the monthly/annual financial reports.
• Review work of other University departments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Periodic:

• Assist in the development of new accounting procedures and methods.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in accounting and two years of experience in governmental or commercial accounting. Eight years of formal accounting experience in higher education can be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Personal computers and calculator.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, financial accounting systems and software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors' degree from an accredited institution in accounting, with some graduate coursework in accounting.
• Three or more years in governmental or commercial accounting with two years within higher education.

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

This position will be Hybrid-Occasionally: Primarily works remotely, but may work on campus on an infrequent basis (approximately four days or less per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
